06 May May Meeting

Buzz Hasiuk is a local commercial pollinator, and Queen breeder. He is working on a line of locally adapted Vorroa sensitive hygenic bees. This winter the line was particularly successful.
He is a third generation beekeeper, certified Bee instructor and Master Beekeeper. He is concerned with the demise and sustainability of Canadian beekeeping furthermore compounding the elevated costs driving many people from the hobby. Buzz has a unique approach to addressing these issues. He will be discussing increasing hive health, decreasing costs to hobbyists, queen selection and Langley Club Synergistics.
He is currently on the BC Agriculture Small Business committee, Treasurer of the British Columbia Bee Breeders, and on the Commercial Committee of the British Columbia Honey Producers. Buzz, with his wife run a medium size beekeeping operation between 400 and 600 hives.
Fahim Raza from the BC Tech Transfer Program will be speaking to our members requesting their participation in some of the interesting projects this season. He’ll speak about recent research results with a presentation entitled as “Identifying the infectious causes of Overwinter mortality”
Come join us for a lively conversation.
