Saturday in the Hive August 2025

Join us for a very special Saturday in the Hive at Klaus’ apiary, Klaus has graciously offered to provide food and show off his custom equipment. Klaus uses modified Layers hives. The boxes are horizontal, so no lifting of supers and expansion/contraction of the colony is gradual. So colonies are always kept cozy and are never exposed to moisture or cold. Frames are without foundation and bees can build what they need. This is completely different from Langstroth hives. There is never old comb used for brood or stores. Klaus also has a custom beevac to demo for us.
